3. Devin Singletary, Florida Atlantic University

A three-year starter at Florida Atlantic, Devin Singletary is an electric playmaker that could end up being the steal of the 2019 NFL Draft. In 2017, he had a breakout season which saw him rush for 1918 yards and 32 touchdowns. Additionally, Singletary averaged six yards per carry throughout his career.

While his receiving production decreased each year in college, he still managed to average 7.8 yards per reception by the end of his Junior year, proving that he can be an effective pass catcher when called on.

The three main qualities that make Singletary an excellent player are his durability, elusiveness, and vision. Despite having a high volume workload in college, Singletary remained relatively healthy. This will benefit him at the NFL level, as he’s proven that wear and tear won’t really be an issue for him.

When it comes to his vision, Singletary is able to predict what the defense is going to do and then make a decision as to which direction to run in. Once he’s in the open field, he’s a dangerous weapon. In an offense like the Bears, Singletary has a chance to become a dual-threat weapon.

One thing that Singletary needs to improve on is his pass protection. Often times, when running backs are asked to pick up a blitz, they need to be physical and ensure that they get into a defender’s face. The good news for Singletary is that this can be fixed as all he needs to do is work on his technique.

Singletary seems like the perfect mid-round pick that Ryan Pace would usually make. He’s not being talked about much and has everything the Bears look for in a running back: instincts, vision, and durability. Definitely one name to keep an eye on in the third round.
