2. Mike Weber, Ohio State

Since 2016, Mike Weber has become a regular part of Ohio State’s offense. In all three years, he’s proven to be an effective option when it comes to both running and catching the football. At this point, it seems as if Weber could be the Bears best option in the fourth-round at 126th overall.

The biggest thing about Weber is his vision. As soon as he gets a handoff, he’s very quick to identify what running lane is going to work best for him. He’s especially good at this when he is asked to run between the tackles.

As a wide receiver, Weber’s route tree is somewhat limited. While at Ohio State, there were two main routes that he always seemed to be running: swings and check-downs. For Weber to become a focal point of any teams running game in the NFL, he’ll need to expand his route tree.

One thing that Weber also needs to learn how to do is to create additional yards after the catch. He’s the type of player that catches a pass and not try to really create a big play. For him to excel in the Bears offense, this is especially important as Matt Nagy’s offense is all about big, explosive plays.

Weber may not have as high of a ceiling as some other running backs in this draft, but on the Bears, he would thrive in the running back by committee approach playing alongside Tarik Cohen and Mike Davis.
