In our second 2019 NFL Mock Draft for the Chicago Bears, the team finds a replacement for Jordan Howard, among filling other needs.

We are less than a month away from the 2019 NFL Draft and the Chicago Bears just made a big move, putting one particular position in need. Thursday night, the Bears sent veteran running back Jordan Howard to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2020 sixth-round draft pick, which can ultimately become a fifth-rounder.

Howard was a staple in the Bears’ offense for two of the three long, miserable years John Fox was head coach. Amidst a pretty rough offensive group, Howard thrived and ran for back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns. He will now serve as the lead back in Philadelphia, and the Bears will turn to Tarik Cohen and newly-signed Mike Davis — for now.

While Cohen’s role in the offense should be even more amped up in 2019, Davis isn’t necessarily going to be Howard’s “replacement.” Nagy should end up using quite a few players in the back field, and you can bet that the Bears will wind up with a running back by the end of the draft.

Along with running back, the Bears have a few other needs in terms of depth. Fortunately, they do not have a dire need at any starting spot — well, maybe one, but we’ll get to that later.

The bigger needs for the Bears, like I said, come in the form of depth. Chicago could use some depth at edge rusher, offensive line, safety and tight end. General manager Ryan Pace will truly be able to go best player available in this draft, and as a fan, I could not be more thrilled. He’s made a strong effort building up the roster to its current state, and not having any glaring weaknesses (maybe one) speaks on the job he has done.

Let’s give another shot at our mock draft, shall we? We begin with a trade, right off the bat.
