How Good is It?

So after seeing what I think will happen with a lot of different individuals this upcoming season, how good will it be when you look at it all as a team when the season is over? The Cleveland Indians have a few injuries to their top guys but nothing that should keep them out too long. They will probably win the division simply by feasting on the rest of this rather weak division. They will win the American League Central again. Their record prediction is 91-71.

In second place will be the Minnesota Twins. They are always tough to predict because they are usually either pretty good or just very mediocre. Either way, they will probably come up short of the division and have a record of 81-81.

Then is where I have the White Sox. I think this season will be a tremendous improvement over their 62-100 record from 2018. The record I have for them is 78-84 meaning they will be only four games behind the Twins for second place. Then the bottom two teams in any order will be the Kansas City Royals and the Detroit Tigers. Those two teams are a bit earlier in their apparent rebuilds.

There is only one guy on the roster that will be in contention for a major award and that is Eloy Jiminez. He will be in contention for the rookie of the year. His stiffest competition out of the gate is Vladamir Guerrero Jr. of the Toronto Blue Jays. Of course, there is a possibility that someone comes out of nowhere and wins the award but Eloy and Vlad Jr. are the favorites to open the season. It will all come down to how their teams do as well as a result of their play.

This season as a whole has a lot to look forward to and it is just another step in the long term rebuild plan. We have to hope it doesn’t lead to a disastrous record of course as there should be some improvement from last year. It is also important that the Minor League teams play well and everyone continues to develop from top to bottom of the organization.
