White Sox at the All-Star Game

Jose Abreu had a very good start to the season last year before his injury and inconsistent play caused him to have lots of career lows including games played, RBIs, and home runs. That said, his start was so good that he was selected to make it to the All-Star Game. Not only did he make the team, he was voted a starter.

It was awesome to have a member of the Chicago White Sox be in the starting lineup of the summer classic and be in the spotlight. The thing is, the path back to the All-Star game is probably easier than any other player on the White Sox. He is among the best hitting first baseman in the entire American League so he should get the nod to at least be on the roster and play once again. He also is the White Sox most consistent hitter so being their only representative is also a posibiity.

There are some dark horses on the White Sox that can make it to the American League roster. That, of course, begins with the White Sox top prospect Eloy Jiminez. There are lots of good outfielders in the AL like Mookie Betts, Mike Trout, and Andrew Benintendi but if Eloy hits the ground running he could make a case for himself to make the team.

There is also Yoan Moncada. What works against him is his position. He is going to be a third baseman this year and there is some really stiff competition for that one position in the AL. He has MVP caliber players like Alex Bregman and Jose Ramirez that also play third. His best bet is to just be a breakout player and see what happens.

Someone that may not be talked about for the All-Star game but could get in is Alex Colome. If he comes in and racks up loads of saves he could be one of the relief pitchers selected. His former seasons as a full-time closer were good enough to at least be considered for All-Star games so this year should be no different.
