Chicago Bears: Potential replacements for Jordan Howard
By Ryan Heckman
Devin Singletary, Florida Atlantic
One of my favorite running backs in this year’s draft class has to be Devin Singletary out of Florida Atlantic. Singletary has done exactly what a smaller school prospect needs to do in college, and that is to produce exponentially.

In college, Singletary was a true work horse. Florida Atlantic rode him for a total of 714 carries through three seasons, but he proved to be able to handle it. Singletary rushed for 4,287 yards and 66 touchdowns in those three years, while also catching 51 passes.
Singletary does possess some similarities to Howard, in that he fights for every single yard. His legs continue to move until he hits the ground. But, at 5-foot-7, he’s smaller and a bit more elusive than Howard.
Although he doesn’t have massive production catching the football, he does have the ability to thrive in that area. He simply wasn’t asked to do so. But, he has great hands and a sense of getting up field following the catch.
The Combine wasn’t kind to him, but that’s fine. His tape shows NFL-caliber talent. Footwork is out of this world, as he often makes the first defender miss. His skillset would be a lot of fun to watch within Nagy’s system, and as potentially a fourth-rounder, Singletary would be worth the selection.
