Chicago Bears: Potential replacements for Jordan Howard
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears have traded running back Jordan Howard. The question now becomes, who will replace him? We offer a few potential names.
Thursday night, the Chicago Bears hit the NFL world with some big-time breaking news. Many thought they would eventually move on from running back Jordan Howard, it was just a matter of when and for what in return.
It finally happened, and of all teams, it was the Philadelphia Eagles who landed Howard in exchange for a 6th-round draft pick in 2020.
Obviously, this isn’t an ideal trade for Bears fans. It was the Eagles who knocked the Bears out of the playoffs this year, with a little help from former kicker Cody Parkey. The Bears were one-and-done in the Wild Card Round, and now they watch as an offensive staple heads to Philadelphia.
The pick, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, can become a 5th-rounder down the road. But, that’s still not what many fans were hoping for in exchange for a recent back-to-back 1,000-yard rusher.
At the beginning of free agency, the Bears signed former Seattle Seahawks running back Mike Davis to go along with Tarik Cohen. But, although Howard was eventually going to be dealt, Davis wasn’t necessarily the replacement. He’ll add great depth and will see the field plenty, but the Bears are now on the hunt for a true Howard replacement.
There are still some names to look at via free agency, but even more intriguing players await in the 2019 NFL Draft. Between free agency and the draft pool, here are a few guys to look at to potentially replace Howard.
