The Chicago Bears let go of a running back that played well for them over a few seasons but it is time to look at the positives in the trade.

The Chicago Bears have finally traded running back Jordan Howard after some long speculation. There were many factors that led people to believe that he would be moved. It seemed inevitable once the season ended and it has happened.

It sort of caught everybody off guard when Adam Schefter tweeted it during a crazy sports night. There were the typical NHL and NBA games going on along with March Madness and Opening Day of Major League Baseball. Everybody put all of those things on the backburner for a few minutes to react to the Howard trade.

The Bears sent him to a team that has inflicted some pain on the team recently. Howard is now a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles sent a sixth-round pick that could turn into a fifth-round pick to Chicago in exchange for Howard.

Howard was a very good running back for the Chicago Bears over three seasons. In his first two seasons, he started every game except one. He had 1000+ yards in both of those seasons and was really looking like he was going to be the next great Bears running back.

Then in 2018 Matt Nagy came in and had a different philosophy compared to what was going on under former head coach John Fox. Howard was more of a duo with fellow running back Tarik Cohen in 2018. That was one of the reasons why he was expendable. There are three good reasons to be happy about this move and how it shapes up the offense going forward.
