Division Champions and Wild Card Winners

Now it’s time for the really good stuff. It’s time to break down Da Windy City’s picks for playoff teams in 2019.

Playoff Teams
Playoff Teams /

Our sympathies in advance to about 75 percent of the American League, as it seems as if only four teams even have a shot at making the playoffs according to Da Windy City experts.

Expect the AL East to come down to a heated, brutal playoff race between the New York Yankees and defending World Champion Boston Red Sox.

As for the AL Central, all but one of our writers picked the Cleveland Indians to take the division. Only **cough** Minnesota resident Ryan Heckman took the Twins to capture the AL Central.

Atta boy, Ryan.

Meanwhile, the AL West was a unanimous decision for the Houston Astros.

Moving onto the National League, all but Jack Sweas, Vinnie Parise and William Martin like the Cubs to take the NL Central. In totally unrelated news, Jack Sweas, Vinnie Parise and William Martin have lost their writing privileges for Da Windy City and are hereby sentenced to eating three wheels of rotten cheese.

What can we say? Loyalty runs deep.

The NL East is already shaping up to be a fun race in 2019, as the defending champion Atlanta Braves look to add another division banner to their collection and keep pace with Bryce Harper and the Philadelphia Phillies.

The NL West is also nearly unanimous, as all but one voted for the Los Angeles Dodgers to clinch their seventh consecutive division title.

The NL Wild Card was split between the Brewers, Cubs, Cardinals, Braves and Phillies while the AL Wild Card was between whoever lost the AL East to their rival.
