AL & NL MVPs

We’ll start off our predictions with the AL and NL MVPs.

Not surprisingly, newly minted $430 million man Mike Trout dominated the American League MVP conversation, earning seven of a possible eleven votes from Da Windy City staff.

The Los Angeles Anaheim of Disneyland of Southern California in the Pacific Time Zone Angels center fielder has two AL MVPs to his name already (2014, 2016) and has finished second in voting in every year that he didn’t win the honor save for a fourth-place finish in 2017.

2017 AL Rookie of the Year winner Aaron Judge came in second place with two votes, followed by Cleveland Indians third baseman Jose Ramirez and Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa.

The National League was a bit more divided, though Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant was the leading vote-getter with four nods.

Coming off a difficult and injury-plagued 2018, Bryant will look to regain his MVP form of 2016.

Atlanta Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman and Colorado Rockies shortstop Nolan Arenado tied for second place, while St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Paul Goldschmidt received one vote for MVP candidacy in his first season with the Redbirds.

It will be interesting to see how the performance of Arenado and Goldschmidt are affected this season after both players signed contract extensions with their teams of $260 million and $130 million, respectively.
