Houston Cougars: Corey Davis Jr.

Out of all of the teams in the Sweet Sixteen, the Houston Cougars are easily the weakest when it comes to NBA draft talent.

The Cougars are made up of overlooked players whose games don’t necessarily look to translate well to the NBA, but they still have a couple of players that could be an intriguing bet for the Bulls to take in the second round.

One of those players is the Cougars’ star point guard, Corey Davis Jr. A senior from Lafayette, Indiana, Davis Jr entered the season completely off of the radar of really everyone, whether it be at the NBA draft level, or the college level.

Davis, the American Athletic Conference’s Player of the Year, broke out with a huge season, averaging 17 points per game, and leading his Cougars to a regular season title in the AAC, and a subsequent three seed in the tournament.

As Davis leads his Cougars through the tournament, Bulls fans should keep an eye on him as a potential late second rounder, or even a diamond in the rough that they could snatch on their Summer League Roster.

As a senior, Davis will certainly be in the draft and will have an abundance of opportunities if he doesn’t get drafted. However, if the Bulls want to take a chance on a pure scorer with developing skills in the passing and ball-handling game, Davis would be a great fit. He has the will to lead a team to success and has no lack of NBA shooting ability.

Everything else in Davis’ game is a major question mark, but in the NBA, you can never have too much shooting. I think Davis would be a great fit in Chicago, whether it be as a late draft pick or a high-ranking undrafted free agent.
