You will notice we will talk a lot about the running back position, here. It seems almost odd, since Jordan Howard is still a member of the Bears. However, most are confident the Bears will move on from him before the beginning of this season.
If the Bears are looking at the later rounds, Karan Higdon would be an interesting option. Although he’s a bit undersized, he is a solid fit for an early-down back. He hasn’t had much production as a pass-catcher, but possesses above-average speed and vision.
Higdon is the type of runner who continues to move the pile and refuses to lose yards — actually, a lot like Howard. He is a patient runner, but quick to hit his holes when he sees them develop. Although he hasn’t had a lot of experience catching the football, he has been used more as a blocker on passing downs and is strong in that category.
I see Higdon as a pretty late pick, and if he’s the best back available, he’s worth a shot. The only red flag, for me, is the lack of production out of the back field.
