In terms of explosiveness, Darrell Henderson might just be the best of this year’s class. He possesses great speed but also packs a punch with his strength. This past season at Memphis, Henderson rushed for 1,909 yards and 22 touchdowns on 214 carries — good for an 8.9 yard-per-carry average.
Not only is Henderson fierce on the ground, but he can also catch the football. In three seasons with the Tigers, he caught 63 passes for 758 yards and eight touchdowns.
If Nagy wants speed and big-play ability, Henderson could be the guy he covets most. There is no denying his knack for busting a huge play. While he needs to work on his ability to break tackles, Henderson’s electric style of running seems to allow him to go untouched, for a while, on a lot of big gains.
Looking at how he fits into Nagy’s offense, Henderson would be a perfect back to have. The Bears wouldn’t necessarily boast a short-yardage specialist, but that can be worked on later. Henderson is always a big play waiting to happen, and that’s exciting for an offense already possessing tons of speed.
