By now, everybody should know the Bears need to add an edge rusher. Many fans were hoping for guys like Justin Houston and Terrell Suggs, or even Shane Ray and Shaquil Barrett. But, the more free agency goes on, the more I’m convinced the Bears will look for another pass rusher in the draft. If anything, bringing back Sam Acho on a cheap deal would at least add another body, but the Bears want more.
Chase Winovich would be a phenomenal pick for the Bears, should they decide to go for him in either the third or fourth round. He’s someone who has potential to be a starter down the road, and would benefit greatly playing alongside Khalil Mack and Leonard Floyd.
Winovich has a non-stop motor and plays the game at full speed, all the time. This can get him into trouble sometimes, but more often than not, he’s flying to the ball in a hurry. Over his last two seasons at Michigan, Winovich has compiled 34.5 tackles for loss, including 13.5 sacks. He possesses quick feet and solid speed at the position, but would do himself a favor by adding some strength.
Having played multiple positions at times, Winovich is a kid who will do whatever it takes to get on the field and be productive. He’s got a fantastic attitude. This is someone I could see fitting in very well within the locker room and ultimately have an impact as the team’s third pass rusher.
