In every draft, you’ll hear about certain players who are flat-out athletes. Juan Thornhill is one of those guys. He excelled in both basketball and football throughout high school, and judging by his ridiculous vertical leap, you could guess he’s not too shabby at dunking the basketball. He’s quick. He’s strong.
There’s not a whole lot he doesn’t possess, physically. The kid is a freak.

Thornhill is a fun prospect, because he can play multiple positions. As a pro, he might fare better at safety, but the possibility of throwing him out there in the slot, here and there, is intriguing.
In his final season at Virginia, Thornhill led his defense in tackles with 98 — that’s impressive, considering he’s a defensive back. He also tied for third in the nation with six interceptions to go along with seven passes defensed.
Thornhill is as athletic as they come in the secondary, not to mention he possesses great instincts. Whether or not the ball is in the air, or even visible to him for that matter, he is quick enough and smart enough to stick with his man in coverage.
This is absolutely a kid I’d love to see on the Bears, especially as a future starter. Groomed by Chuck Pagano and the talent around him, Thornhill has the chance to be a special player. If he’s there in the third or fourth round, don’t be surprised to see Ryan Pace scoop him up.
