Chicago Bears: 2019 NFL Draft Prospect Big Board
By Ryan Heckman
Leading up to the 2019 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have to be looking a bit deeper at this year’s prospects
The 2019 NFL Draft will be different. For Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace, there was a price to pay in regards to two particular players added in 2018. First, there was the cost of moving up to draft Anthony Miller out of Memphis in the second round. Then, of course, the Khalil Mack blockbuster took the league by storm.
Because of these two transactions, Pace and the Bears are without a pick in the first two rounds this April. Not only do they miss out on Rounds 1 and 2, but they are also without a sixth round selection. In total, the Bears have five picks: Rounds 3, 4 and 5 as well as two selections in Round 7.
Fortunately for Pace and second-year head coach Matt Nagy, the Bears do not have many holes to fill. After solidifying a playoff roster which won the NFC North in 2018, their core has remained intact and only saw two significant players depart in safety Adrian Amos and slot cornerback Bryce Callahan.
With the departures also come free agent signings. The Bears inked Ha Ha Clinton-Dix and Buster Skrine to take the place of Amos and Callahan, as well as bringing on a few other signees. Chicago now has its answer at the kick returner with Cordarrelle Patterson in the fold. Add in running back Mike Davis and wideout Marvin Hall, and Nagy has a few more weapons to play with.
The Bears still have some depth needs at edge rusher, safety, running back, cornerback, offensive line and tight end — in no particular order. With these needs in mind, we came up with 20 names the Bears should have on their big board come time for the draft. Let’s kick it off in reverse order at the cornerback position.
