The Chicago Bears go into the 2019 NFL Draft looking at solidifying their roster. We look at some sleeper candidates at the cornerback position.

When the Chicago Bears set out for the 2019 NFL offseason, they had a couple of glaring situations to address. For Ryan Pace, these two decisions would ultimately define the offseason for his Bears.

The first question was with veteran strong safety Adrian Amos. Would Pace bring him back or would the Bears go in a different direction at safety? That question was answered early on, as Amos signed with a bitter rival, the Green Bay Packers.

Ironically enough, Chicago then agreed with former Packers safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix to take the place of Amos, next to a former Alabama teammate Eddie Jackson.

The second main issue for the Bears was whether or not to re-sign nickel corner Bryce Callahan. That question was answered almost immediately when free agency began, as the team agreed with former New York Jets slot corner Buster Skrine. Signing Skrine meant Callahan was out, and he ultimately signed with Vic Fangio’s new club, the Denver Broncos.

Now that Skrine and Clinton-Dix are in, the Bears’ secondary is set. But, depth is always key to winning a championship. Other than Kyle Fuller and Prince Amukamara, the depth could come into question should there be an injury. I see Pace going after a corner in this year’s draft, without a doubt.

The problem lies in where the Bears will be picking. Without a first or second rounder, Chicago will be attacking the mid-to-later rounds of the draft. With that said, let’s take a closer look at a few corners who could end up panning out as a great value within those rounds.
