The Chicago Bulls are going to be a lottery team, but if they don’t land the first overall pick, this Murray State player would be a great addition.

The Chicago Bulls have been a  bad basketball team in 2018-19. Everybody knows it and expected it so it is largely a non-story. Everyone seems to hate the upper management, so it was just a bad situation pretty much all season long.

What Bulls fans have to look forward to is the future, and that begins with the draft. They currently sit at 21-52, and the reason they even have that many wins is they have played okay recently. Reaching the 20-win mark looked bleak earlier in the season.

As we stand right now, that is the fourth-worst record in the NBA and that would earn them a 12.5 percent chance to win the lottery. The three worse teams are all given an equal 14 percent chance, and that would be the Cleveland Cavaliers, Phoenix Suns, and New York Knicks.

Not winning the lottery and the right to draft Zion Williamson would be less than ideal, but Murray State Racers guard Ja Morant would be a great addition to the Bulls. This guy is probably going to be a top three pick in the upcoming entry draft and could be an impact player right away. He changes the Chicago Bulls infrastructure going forward in a positive way almost as much as any top prospect in the world.

Mordant is from Dalzell, North Carolina. He attended Crestwood High School before becoming a Murray State Racer. This is his second year in college and staying that extra year seems to have paid off for his development.

Morant had himself a very good season. In 31 games he had an average of 24.6 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 10.0 rebounds. He also had an excellent field goal percentage of 50 percent. Those are some incredible averages and there is no doubt that he won’t be available to draft beyond pick five and possibly earlier as an NBA team will certainly select him in the top five.

On Thursday night, he absolutely dominated in the round of 64 in the March Madness NCAA tournament. The 12-seeded Murray State dominated the five-seeded Marquette by a final score of 83-64. He had 17 points, 16 assists, and 11 rebounds for the first triple-double in the March Madness tournament since Draymond Green did it for Michigan State in 2012.

He had as good of a game as any player in NCAA history to lead his team to the upset victory. This guy can be compared to a lot of very good players in NBA history. That is just what the Bulls need to join the list of a core that has a bright future. With guys like Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen and Otto Porter Jr already in play, adding a guy like Morant to this unit could turn out to be very formidable and get the Bulls back into playoff contention.

With guys of that skill set on his team Morant would surely be able to facilitate a great offensive style. The fast breaks these guys would be able to create together would make Bulls basketball fun to watch again. This is the type of player the franchise needs to add so fans have a reason to spend their money and go to the United Center for their games.

The Bulls have the All Star Game festivities next year as well. Having one of the top rookies attending the game in the home jersey would really be something to behold. Morant would make the Bulls a team the national media cares about again, which is tough to do lately.
