Limited roster moves

If you were to do a Twitter search for “Bryce Harper Cubs,” the amount of tweets from Cubs fans begging the organization to sign Bryce Harper would probably astound you.

Despite the fact that the organization was quick to deny any links between the Cubs and Harper, the rumors continued to fly. Viral photos of Harper hanging out with close friend and fellow Las Vegas resident Kris Bryant certainly didn’t help the situation.

Although there are still numerous big-name free agents on the market like pitchers Dallas Keuchel and Craig Kimbrel, it’s looking as though the Cubs won’t be making any splashes this offseason.

You could argue that the Cubs don’t need to make any transactions, seeing as though the team was plagued with injuries in 2018 and they’re still only two years removed from a World Series title with the same core intact.

You could also argue that the Cubs need to continue to improve given the team’s struggles and collapse last year and the improvement of virtually every team in the National League Central.

Regardless, the lack of moves by the front office makes the offseason quite uneventful and dull.
