Chicago Cubs: Why this was the worst offseason of all-time
By Jason Parini
It’s been a frustrating offseason for fans of many teams, but no fan base had it as bad as the Chicago Cubs. Here’s why this offseason was the worst of all-time.
Just over six months ago, the Chicago Cubs sat in first place in the National League Central. The team appeared to be primed for another deep October run as they pulled away from their hated Central Division rivals.
It all came crashing down for the Cubs and their fans, as the team collapsed in the division, lost in the NL Central tiebreaker to the Milwaukee Brewers and then were sent home for the season in a frustrating loss to the Colorado Rockies in the NL Wild Card Game at Wrigley Field.
It was only the beginning for fans, who have had to cope with not only their abysmal collapse to end the season but numerous other off-field issues all freezing winter.
Fortunately for fans, there’s just over a week until regular season Cubs baseball is back on the air. And for most fans, the return of baseball could not come soon enough.
From the issues surrounding roster decisions to the news of an impending television network only available in the Chicagoland area, there really hasn’t been anything for fans to look forward to except for the actual return of Cubs baseball.
MLB free agency (or lack thereof) was frustrating for everyone this offseason, including many players and agents. But here’s why Cubs fans had the worst offseason of all time.
Cubs fans, you may want to grab a drink for this one.
