This season is coming to a close for the Chicago Blackhawks, but one superstar is doing everything he can to keep it going.

You have heard everything year need to hear about Chicago Blackhawks superstar winger Patrick Kane. He has won the Stanley Cup, Conn Smythe (playoff MVP), Art Ross (scoring title), and the Hart (league MVP). Those are the four signature awards a player can win in the National Hockey League. Kane’s status as a decorated player is well known, and he just added another special milestone to it.

On Monday night with the Vancouver Canucks in town, Kane earned an assist on a Jonathan Toews power play goal for his 100th point of the season. Kane has reached the milestone once before in his career when he ended with 46 goals and 60 assists for 106 points in 2015-16. He led the league in scoring and won the Hart Trophy that year for his efforts.

Only Nikita Kucherov and Connor McDavid have also reached the 100 point plateau this season so far, and Sidney Crosby is at 92 points with three weeks left. That is elite company for the Blackhawks superstar to be named with.

He will likely not win the MVP because the voters take making it to the postseason heavily into consideration and the Blackhawks don’t appear to be playoff bound this year. If they somehow make it then Kane might have a chance. He also won’t win the scoring title because Kucherov has 117 points, which is probably too big of a hill to climb for anyone.

Kane also joined some elite Blackhawks company with his milestone. He joined Denis Savard and Jeremy Roenick as the third player in franchise history to record multiple 100 point seasons. Savard did it five times and Roenick did it three times. Being mentioned in the same company as some of those players is such an honor for Kane, but it appears more and more obvious that Kane might be the greatest Blackhawk to ever live as well as the greatest American born player to ever live.

You are very lucky as a hockey fan to be alive while Patrick Kane is doing this stuff. He will always be remembered as one of the elite players of his era and will go down a Chicago legend. He is right there with all of the great legends not only in Blackhawks history but Chicago Sports history as well. Continue enjoying Kane’s dominance while you can, because it won’t be here forever. This is truly a generational talent and he is in our city for all his great years.

If the Blackhawks don’t make the playoffs and cause Kane to not really get any recognition, that will not be cool but it doesn’t matter because everyone knows how good he is and continues to be. The Blackhawks lost the game in overtime, and now are four points behind the Arizona Coyotes for the final Wild Card berth in the Western Conference. They are back in action on Thursday when the Philadelphia Flyers come to town continuing a very important week.
