Bruce Irvin

By now, most of us know the talk around veteran edge rusher Bruce Irvin last season. He was another one of the players sent packing, either via trade or release, by Jon Gruden. His former teammate, Khalil Mack, is now in Chicago.

More from Da Windy City

A lot of Bears fans wanted Irvin on the team immediately following his release in 2018. But, Irvin opted to go home and sign with the Atlanta Falcons. While the Falcons’ season didn’t necessarily turn around after signing Irvin, he was at least able to go back to a familiar place and receive a warm homecoming.

Now, I’m assuming he’d like a shot at a ring. There’s no better defense to join right now than these Chicago Bears. Because he’s still available. I would bet his price has dropped significantly. Maybe, it wasn’t all that high in the first place.

Over his 7-year career, Irvin has posted 43.5 sacks and 15 forced fumbles, while picking off three passes and scoring two defensive touchdowns. He also has a total of 99 quarterback hits. As someone playing with a former teammate and friend like Mack, Irvin would be not only motivated, but surrounded by elite talent at every position.

Give Irvin the best defense he’s ever played on (come at me, Seattle Seahawks fans) and watch what happens.
