Chicago Bears: Overlooked, intriguing free agents still available

Safety Andrew Sendejo
This wasn’t intended to be an NFC North-heavy list, but it somehow turned out that way. Veteran safety Andrew Sendejo knows the black and blue division well, as he spent the last eight seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.
Sendejo had been one of the consistent starters in the secondary for the past several seasons before going down with an injury last year. This gave way for Anthony Harris to step in and play very well, making it easier for the Vikings to move on from Sendejo. Although Harris has yet to sign as well, Minnesota appears to have made a decision and let Sendejo go elsewhere.
The Bears have their starting safeties set now, following the Clinton-Dix signing, and a 31-year-old Sendejo may not get his real shot to start somewhere else. The way the safety market has looked so far, most of the top-tier guys are getting paid and, unfortunately for Sendejo, he’s not among that category.
Now, he would indeed be a valuable addition to the Bears’ depth. Sendejo isn’t the greatest athlete, but he does see the field well and has a veteran’s wherewithal. Getting him in under Pagano and working alongside some of the younger guys could be a huge boost to their development.
