Chicago Bears: Overlooked, intriguing free agents still available
By Ryan Heckman
Wide Receiver Randall Cobb
Within their receiving core, the Bears currently have Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller, Javon Wims as well as Patterson. That’s a grand total of five, but could the Bears be looking at adding a sixth to stick around on the final roster come September?

I think so, and for good reason. Patterson will be the full-time kick returner and used occasionally on offense. Wims, as good as he has looked in limited time as a rookie, might still need some polishing. Keeping six wide receivers on the roster isn’t a crazy thought if Patterson’s main role will be returning kicks.
One of the receivers who has been talked about less comes from the same background as Clinton-Dix — Randall Cobb. As one of Aaron Rodgers‘ go-to guys over the last eight seasons, Cobb has been less and less productive due to some struggles with injury.
Since his career year back in 2014, Cobb has regressed in many categories. Last year, in nine games, Cobb caught just 38 passes for 383 yards and two scores. It remains to be seen whether Green Bay brings him back, but his market will likely be cheapened.
As a depth add, Cobb wouldn’t be a bad idea. He knows this division well, and I’m certain he’d love to play the Packers twice each year, should they not bring him back.
