2. RB T.J. Yeldon

Despite just adding Mike Davis, the Bears still have a chance to make running back one of the deepest positions on the roster. With Jordan Howard on his way out, the Bears would be wise to look at T.J. Yeldon. Since running backs in Matt Nagy’s offense are all about being able to catch the ball but also run between the tackles, Yeldon could be the biggest steal in free agency.

The best feature of Yeldon’s game is his ability to catch the football. In 2018 he had 55 receptions averaging 8.9 yards per reception. The reality is that he’s shown the ability to be an effective running back even though he’s had to share time in the backfield with Leonard Fournette.

A running back trio that features Tarik Cohen, T.J. Yeldon, and Mike Davis could be something that takes the Bears offense to another level next season. Each of the three would bring something unique to Matt Nagy’s offense.

If the Bears sign Yeldon, then it would mean that Tarik Cohen would be used in the passing game more. Cohen’s speed makes him a valuable receiver that can be placed in the slot or run routes out of the backfield.

In other words, the advantage of bringing Yeldon in is that he’d make the Bears offense more expandable. Matt Nagy’s offense isn’t one that slows down. It’s an offense that needs to have playmakers to be successful and one that is explosive.
