Chicago Bears Free Agency: 3 reasons to love Ha Ha Clinton-Dix signing
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears welcomed a new safety on Thursday in Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. Why is this one of the best signings of the offseason?
Thursday afternoon, the Chicago Bears wasted no time filling the void at safety. Former Green Bay Packers and Washington Redskins safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix visited the Bears. Like many players in the past, Clinton-Dix didn’t leave Chicago without a deal. General manager Ryan Pace made it happen, and the Bears are now set at their starting safeties once again.
After seeing Adrian Amos sign with the Green Bay Packers (ironically enough), the Bears had a void to fill. Many believed they wouldn’t end up bringing Amos back to begin with, so the assumption was that Pace and the front office would be investing in this year’s safety market.
Now, the Bears have both Clinton-Dix and his former Alabama teammate, Eddie Jackson, filling out their safety tandem. Playing alongside Kyle Fuller and Prince Amukamara, the Bears will once again have one of the league’s best secondaries.
Last season, Clinton-Dix was traded to Washington and played just over half the season with the Redskins.
Over his 5-year career, Clinton-Dix has been amongst the top tacklers on his team, finishing with 70-plus tackles three times and 60-plus tackles the other two seasons. Clinton-Dix has 14 career interceptions, with a high of five back in 2016 when he made the Pro Bowl.
While some opinions are split (depending on whether you ask a Packer fan), the truth of the matter is this: Pace worked wonders with this signing. Clinton-Dix was a brilliant addition. Allow me to break down three main reasons why.
