Chicago Bears: Free agents no one is talking about
By Ryan Heckman
Defensive End Kony Ealy
In 2018, Kony Ealy didn’t play a whole lot of football. In fact, he appeared in just three games for the Oakland Raiders after being brought back later in the season. Has his ability dipped that far in just two years? Maybe. But, let’s not forget we’re talking about a guy who had some solid production just a couple of seasons ago.

Back when he was with the Carolina Panthers, Ealy started 15 games in three seasons and compiled 14.0 sacks in that span. He also forced six fumbles and picked off a pass. Ealy is no slouch, but the last couple of seasons he’s dealt with injury and playing with lesser-qualified defenses than his former team in Carolina.
The Bears could easily get Ealy on a minimum deal. At the very least, Ealy would be a worthy addition to the roster going into offseason workouts and training camp. If he were to be surrounded by the talent Chicago has on their current defense, Ealy just might be able to return to form a bit.
Let’s keep it real, here. This is a 27-year-old former second-round pick. If the Bears get him on a deal worth next to nothing, Ealy is well-worth a speculative add.
