Chicago Bears: Which teams are interested in Jordan Howard?
By Usayd Koshul
1. New York Jets
This offseason, there are multiple reports that the New York Jets are looking to add a running back to the roster. The reason? Do everything possible to surround Sam Darnold with playmakers, much like the Bears did with Mitchell Trubisky during the 2018 offseason.
The Jets have been linked to star running back Le’Veon Bell. However, Bell is likely to demand a major contract, one that will make him the highest paid running back in NFL history. Considering the average career of an NFL running back in just seven years, the Jets are taking a cautious approach and keeping all options open.
This is where Jordan Howard enters the picture. If the Jets are unable to land Bell, then they could get on the phone with the Bears and work out a trade package.
New York has two third-round picks (68th and 93rd) overall. Considering the Bears do not pick until the 87th pick in the third round, the best thing for the Bears could be to ship Howard off in return for the Jets 68th overall pick.
This would allow for the Bears to get an additional third-round pick, which would give the Bears the 68th and 87th picks on day two. With two selections in the third round, the Bears would be able to get two quality prospects which would go a long way towards continuing to add talent to a roster that is just one or two moves away from the Super Bowl.
