1. Adrian Phillips

Everyone knows about the Chicago Bears defense. It was a top 10 defense in 2017 and the addition of Khalil Mack to a defense that had other guys develop led to them being the best defense in the National Football League in 2018. The defense led the team to the heights they reached as one of the elite teams in the NFL.

More from Da Windy City

They have a few things to take care of, and the uncertainty of safety Adrian Amos‘ future as a Bear is a concern. If they are not able to resign Amos, there are a few backup options that are available for them to take a look at. One of them is Los Angeles Chargers safety Adrian Phillips. The Chargers general manager seems to think that Phillips is a heart and soul type guy for defense.

The good thing is that the Bears have lots of those guys on their team and adding more could only be a positive. You can never have enough character in professional sports. A guy like that can go a long way in a locker room, especially when the locker room is filled with guys just like him.

He started seven games for Los Angeles this last season, and he ranked seventh on the team with 77 tackles and added in 12 deflected passes, a forced fumble, and an interception. This guy can provide tremendous upside to a team with an already elite defense.

This is also a guy who can help in multiple different ways. Aside from what he would be able to do on defense, is what he can do on special teams. Everyone overlooks special teams sometimes but it can be pivotal to field position and winning football games. His special teams skills earned him a First Team All-Pro pick and a Pro Bowl selection. He led the NFL with 19 tackles in the kicking game this season.

This is a guy, who if the price is right, can make a defense as a new addition to this defense that is already good enough to compete for a Super Bowl title.
