There are many reasons to be optimistic about the Chicago Bears going forward, but every team looks to fill in some cracks with some free agents.

The Chicago Bears had a very good season in 2018. They won the NFC North as a consensus preseason pick to come in last. Their 12-4 record was good enough for the 3rd seed in the NFC playoffs. They were defeated on Wild Card Weekend by the Philadelphia Eagles after Cody Parkey hit the double post on the potential game-winner, sending the Bears home with a very empty feeling.

Every good team looks to fill in the cracks via free agency each offseason, and the Bears will be no different. They will look to add to an already great team and take the next step in 2019. This squad might be a group that pending free agents want to join because of the outlook of the future and the great fun culture they have appeared to have built.

With the whole “Club Dub” thing they have going on, and some really good players on both sides of the ball, there is no reason for free agents to not strongly consider coming to Chicago to play for the Bears. This Bears team is very important to the city of Chicago, and anybody on a Super Bowl-winning roster will forever be loved here. They will always be remembered fondly. That Bears team that made it to Super Bowl XLI and lost to the Indianapolis Colts is still remembered fondly even though they lost.

So as far as free agency goes this offseason, the best places to look sometimes are good teams. What makes a team good? Good players and good coaching. The Los Angeles Chargers are one of those very good teams. They got the short end of the stick and had to be the 5th seed because the only team that was better in the AFC record-wise was in their own division in the Kansas City Chiefs who had the same record but owned the tiebreaker.

The Chargers are a true Super Bowl contender but they will have some guys looking for new contracts and the Bears could be in a position to pounce on a few of them.
