The Chicago White Sox enter the 2019 season following a disappointing offseason. However, can the White Sox surprise people after a horrible 2018 season?

The only thing that can save the Chicago White Sox and their fans from the past four months of misery is baseball.

Luckily, baseball is almost back. After a near five-month hiatus, the White Sox are within a month away of the regular season.

The obvious elephant in the room is the disastrous offseason. That won’t change for a while. However, life must go on. I highly doubt that this offseason will linger past opening day. If it does, then we’ve got a problem.

Let’s, for once, focus on the current White Sox team. Not who could or should be on the team, not who will be on the team or who shouldn’t be on the team.

Believe it or not, the White Sox are a much-improved team on paper from a season ago. 2018’s abysmal rotation has added a pair of veteran starters.

The young, depleted bullpen is easily the most-improved area of the team, with two more solid adds to the back end.

Say what you will about the strategy behind adding Yonder Alonso and Jon Jay, but the 305 Brothers add much needed left-handed balance to a righty-heavy lineup.

And, of course, we’ll be able to experience the debuts of several prospects, including the top two prospects in the White Sox system. The record might not be stellar, but at least there’s reason to watch this year’s Chicago White Sox.
