The Chicago White Sox missed out on two superstar free agents, but now it is time to move on and start worrying about the season.

The offseason is coming to a close in Major League Baseball and the Chicago White Sox in all likelihood are coming out of it in a better position than they were going into it. But going into it they were a 62-100 baseball team so that really isn’t saying much.

After all the hype, Manny Machado and Bryce Harper finally have new homes. Machado signed a 10 year, $300 million dollar deal with the San Diego Padres. Harper signed a 13 year, $330 million dollar deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. These are enormous deals for two very good players.

The White Sox at the very least had a seat at the table to recruit one of these two to come to play for them in Chicago. It did not work, but it is time to move on. The White Sox should just encourage everyone to forget about it and not talk about it anymore. It is water under the bridge and they should look forward.

With Yoan Moncada, Tim Anderson, Reynaldo Lopez, and Lucas Giolito already up, Eloy Jimenez on the way, and savvy vets like Jose Abreu, Jon Jay, and Yonder Alonso on the team, there is reason to be optimistic about this being a growing season. Don’t forget about the possibilities of Luis Robert, Jake Burger or Nick Madrigal making an impact one day, and the return of Michael Kopech from injury in 2020. The future appears to be bright on the south side.

There will be an opportunity to spend the money in the future and everyone knows that they will have it to spend because of the fact that they barely spend any at the moment. Although some less than ideal comments have been made by members of White Sox management, they made significant offers to some huge free agents and will likely do so again in the future.

They are going to have to just start winning in order to get all the haters to quiet down. That is going to happen through drafting and developing and using your assets to your advantage. It is time to forget about what this offseason wasn’t and move on. The future has been the focus of this organization for a few years now and that is what it should remain until it all starts to come together at the major league level.

The White Sox will continue their Spring Training schedule through March as they get ready for the season opener and the whole season itself. They need to focus on that now and forget about anything that happened. It is time to show the rest of the MLB that the Chicago White Sox are coming.
