Defensive End Anthony Nelson, Iowa

As a Bears fan, I have been waiting for Roy Robertson-Harris to reach his full potential. As eager as I’ve been to see that happen, I’ve been even more eager to see Jonathan Bullard get cut. While Robertson-Harris took a step forward last year, I’d love to see Bilal Nichols become the answer there. Nichols is a great tool, though, as he could be tossed in at either nose tackle or defensive end.

I would love for the Bears to take their next shot at finding a staple opposite of Akiem Hicks. One of those guys worth looking at is Anthony Nelson out of Iowa. He’s not an overly-athletic player, but he’s a monster of a human being.

Nelson stands at 6-foot-7 and weighs in around 270 pounds. He looks to be a better fit as a 4-3 defensive end, but could certainly find a spot within a 3-4 if need be. Nelson is incredibly strong, and one of his best traits is stopping the run.

Because of his strength, Nelson rushes the passer best when it is head-on. His size and strength combine for one heck of a bull rush, but because of his limited arsenal as a pass rusher, he’ll likely be found somewhere fourth or fifth round.
