Chicago Bears NFL Draft Sleeper: Kerrith Whyte Jr.
Kerrith Whyte Jr, out of Florida Atlantic University, is a player that could provide great value for the Chicago Bears.
Anyone who has been following the Chicago Bears is likely familiar with the name Taquan Mizzell. Nicknamed “smoke,” Mizzell was towards the bottom of the Bears’ depth chart, yet got a substantial amount of playing time.
There were a variety of opinions both as to his play and the reasons why he saw the field so often. If you are a part of “Bears Twitter” you also know that many fans and media personnel were confounded by his amount of playing time. There were many cases in which Mizzell saw the field in big spots to the exclusion of either Tarik Cohen or Jordan Howard.
Obviously, you want your best players on the field in the most important situations, so Nagy’s usage of Mizzell was confusing, to say the least.
However, it became clear that Nagy was searching for something — perhaps a skillset he felt was lacking. In fairness, the idea of having a versatile, change of pace running back who is multi-dimensional and can catch passes out of the backfield is a good one. Unfortunately, the results just weren’t there for Mizzell.
But what if the Bears could acquire a player who is just as versatile and multi-dimensional, but more talented? Is that something that might interest Ryan Pace, Nagy, and the Bears? Of course, it would.
One player who could make a lot of sense in that role is Florida Atlantic University running back Kerrith Whyte Jr. The junior declared early for the draft and could immediately step in as both a kick returner and a change of pace back for the Bears.
