Chicago Blackhawks: Trade deadline possibilities Part III
2. Gustav Nyquist
The Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks have not been very friendly to each other over the last century or so. They have one of the two longest standing rivalries in all of hockey and one of the biggest in sport.

This rivalry, however, was watered down a little bit when Detroit was moved to the Eastern Conference for NHL realignment. They only play twice a year now, but that doesn’t mean they are no longer rivals. However, they are more inclined to make trades with each other because neither team will see each other but twice a year.
So, if these two teams came to their senses and helped each other out this trade deadline, no one would fit in on the Blackhawks more than Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist. Nyquist has made a very nice career for himself as a goal scorer.
He is usually capable of contributing 20-30 goals per season. This season is no different. He has 15 goals and 33 assists for 48 points in 60 games this season. He will break 20 and could even see a spike of production if he was traded away from Detroit. He, like Dzingel, is shadowed by some younger and slightly better stars on his team.
The trade could get slippery because what Detroit might want for Gustav could be a little much. Would Nyquist come to Chicago and probably even see a spike in production? Probably. But he is in his late 20s and on an expiring contract.
If Detroit wants a first round pick, then the Blackhawks would probably say no. Last year the Wings traded Tomas Tatar to the Vegas Golden Knights for a first, second, and third round pick and Vegas pretty much regretted it a month later even though they went all the way on to the Stanley Cup Final.
Detroit probably wont see that type of return for Nyquist unless one of the elite teams overpays for him. The Blackhawks are still in a mini transition even if they make the playoffs so they wont give up that much. They would probably trade a second or a third and a mid-high level prospect.
