There are just a few games left between now and the trade deadline, so what does that mean for the Chicago Blackhawks leading into it?

Last week was a very big week for the Chicago Blackhawks. It didn’t go exactly perfect for them as they only collected two of a possible six points in the week. They defeated the New Jersey Devils and fell to the Boston Bruins and the Columbus Blue Jackets. While it could have gone much better, they are still very much in it as the Western Conference Wild Card picture is, well, wild.

Speaking of wild, after defeating the Ottawa Senators on Monday night, the Blackhawks are only one point out of a playoff position in the West. So that subpar week they had didn’t hurt them as much as it could have because some of the teams around them can’t find a way to win with any sort of consistency.

Patrick Kane has kept his point-scoring streak alive and it is now at 18 straight games. He was in MVP talks before this run the ‘Hawks are on even began. Many thought that if they were able to somehow make the playoffs he could very well get the honor. He currently sits with 36 goals and 54 assists for 90 points. If the Blackhawks do get in, it will be hard to not award him the Hart Trophy as league MVP. His main competition at the moment is Tampa Bay Lightning forward, Nikita Kucherov.

So where are the Blackhawks sitting going into the last stretch of games before the trade deadline? Well, it all really depends on how they perform in these next three games. There are some games against bitter rivals and all three of the games are teams that the Blackhawks compete with frequently.

If they find their way into a playoff spot this week, they might want to be buyers at the deadline and if it doesn’t go as planned they could decide to sell. Like last week, this is one of the more important weeks in recent memory. We break down the upcoming stretch for the ‘Hawks.
