Everyone knows about the Chicago White Sox and their rebuild, but their prospects are finally ready to contribute.

There are probably some Chicago White Sox fans who want something to read about that doesn’t involve Manny Machado or Bryce Harper. Maybe one of them will be worth writing about in the future but they are not the focus here.

Instead, the focus would be a particular trade the White Sox made two summers ago that appears to have changed the trajectory of the franchise. It may have even shaved a year or two off the rebuild and put them in position to win a little sooner. Everyone knows the rebuild got started by trading Chris Sale to the Boston Red Sox for Yoan Moncada, Michael Kopech, and Luis Alexander Basabe. That is a solid return for a Hall of Fame pitcher in the middle of his prime.

The Adam Eaton trade with the Washington Nationals is paying dividends as well, but none are as much of a difference maker as the trade they made with the Chicago Cubs. They traded Jose Quintana for prospects Eloy Jimenez, Dylan Cease, Matt Rose, and Bryant Flete. This trade is huge because Quintana is good but he is not a future Hall of Famer and yet they still got a great return from the Cubs.

This piece will focus mainly on Jimenez and Cease as they are two big prospects that came back to the White Sox and are likely going to make an impact in 2019 at the big league level. The franchise is expecting big things from them moving forward as they build to get back to the playoffs and eventually compete for a World Series.

There are many factors that will contribute to whether or not these two will make an impact in 2019 but all signs say they will and help the team be contenders again sooner rather than later.
