2. Mark Stone

The Ottawa Senators were projected by most to be the worst team in the National Hockey League and low and behold they are. Things might get even worse for them as they begin to sell off at the deadline. That group of players is led by forward Mark Stone.

Mark Stone has been a member of the Senators for a long time now and he has made a name for himself as one of the more underrated players in the National Hockey League. He is certainly one of the very best offensive players and his two-way game is exceptional. He would be a great addition to any team in the league.

The thing about the Chicago Blackhawks trading for him would have to be with a few conditions. A first-round pick would absolutely be needed to trade for a guy like Stone and his talent. Ottawa would probably take their chances at re-signing him if the price to trade him wasn’t right based on what he is worth.

If the Blackhawks were to give a first rounder, they would have to make sure it is a sign and trade. If Stone agreed to a contract so he could be traded and stay with the Hawks long term would be the only way it is worth it to pay that price for a guy like him The amount of damage he could do if he was surrounded by the other elite players Chicago provides would be unmatched.

In 2018-19 playing on a pretty bad Ottawa Senators team, he has a quiet 27 goals and 31 assists for 58 points in 58 games. This is elite production from one of the very best players in the world. He is good enough to take a spot on the already red hot Blackhawks power play and a guy like Patrick Kane dancing around with the puck would put Stone in a very nice position.

Now as said before, Ottawa would want a first for Stone. They do not have their own first round pick because they traded it away last season to the Colorado Avalanche because they thought they were going to be very good before a disappointing season led them to a rebuild. They are trying to acquire picks and prospects to move forward.

That first rounder might need to be accompanied by a young forward like Sikura, Drake Caggiula or Dominik Kahun. This is clearly a big price to pay but that is the price you pay for elite players at the trade deadline. They would absolutely need him signed to make this trade but anything could happen if Stone welcomed the idea of coming to play for Chicago.
