Chicago Bears: 10 bold predictions for 2019 NFL free agency
By Ryan Heckman
9. Bears sign Terrell Suggs
Seven seasons with double-digit sacks. 33 career forced fumbles. Seven Pro Bowls. 193 tackles for loss. 191 quarterback hits.
That’s the kind of veteran the Bears would get to add — coming on as a backup — in Terrell Suggs.
I mentioned the depth at outside linebacker previously, and I think with Lynch and Suggs in the fold, the Bears have the absolute best group of them in the league.
It is obvious that Suggs would love to retire a Baltimore Raven, and I think he should. But, if he wants a chance at one more ring before ultimately retiring a Raven, why not join forces with the best defense in the NFL?
He is no where near the All-Pro he once was, but he’s just two years removed from an 11-sack season with the Ravens. The 36-year-old has to be thinking of hanging up his cleats soon, and you’ve got to believe adding one more Super Bowl would be the icing on the cake of a Hall of Fame career.
One thing to keep in mind, here: New Bears defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano was in Baltimore from 2008-2011 and had a lot of time to spend around Suggs. If you don’t think that relationship could come into play, you better think again.
