The Chicago Blackhawks are on a seven-game winning streak, meaning that their playoff chances are still alive after a horrible start to the season.

The Chicago Blackhawks’ win over the Detroit Red Wings on Sunday afternoon extended their winning streak to seven games. They are playing some very good hockey and winning different games in different ways. It wasn’t very long ago that they had the worst record in the entire National Hockey League.

The biggest factor of these wins is good goaltending from Colin Delia and Cam Ward combined with MVP level play from right wing Patrick Kane. Captain Jonathan Toews is also having a resurgence of a season and is really putting up some numbers as well.

There has been some outstanding scoring depth with Alex DeBrincat having another fantastic year and the additions of Dylan Strome and Drake Caggiula are really paying off. They are all scoring with regularity and following in Kane and Toews’ footsteps.

There is also the news of Corey Crawford making his return to practice, so you never know if he ends up back in a game. If he were to come back and be the Crawford of old then the sky is the limit for this team.

There are still guys who are proven they can be championship caliber players on that squad. Now, maybe they’re not going to be considered a Stanley Cup contender in the Western Conference like say maybe Nashville, Winnipeg or San Jose, but they can get to the playoffs if they keep clicking like this.

With all of that said, this is the most important regular season week for the Chicago Blackhawks in a very long time. Usually, in previous years where they made playoff runs, they were consistent throughout the year. The same cannot be said about this team. Big winning streaks and big losing streaks are the reason they are in the position they are in.

There are three points on the table this week and losing out on any of them could absolutely make the road even tougher. They go into the action four points back of the final Wild Card spot in the West. With six points on the table and most of the other teams around them in the standings struggling to win with consistency, it makes it seem possible for the Hawks to take advantage.
