Chicago Bears: Potential free agent adds from AFC North
By Ryan Heckman
As we continue to look at potential free agent signings for the Chicago Bears, we head over to the AFC North to see who might fit.
The Chicago Bears shocked the NFL last season when they went from worst to first in the NFC North, finishing the 2018 season at 12-4. As fans, I’m sure a lot of us weren’t necessarily too surprised. We knew what this team was capable of, but did we think they were that good? What a season it was.
Similar to the Bears, the Cleveland Browns are attempting to go from the cellar to the top of their respective division, the AFC North. It didn’t happen in a year, but things are looking up and they could certainly compete for the division this season if they take all the right steps.
The Baltimore Ravens are taking on a totally different identity with Lamar Jackson under center, running the ball and running the clock, while leaning on their stout defense. The Ravens might end up being a favorite as well for that division this year.
The Pittsburgh Steelers were a surprise, but not in the positive light. Missing the playoffs and seeing a plethora of drama unfold with two of their biggest stars, Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown, the Steelers’ 2018 campaign was a sad one. But, if they end up without both Bell and Brown next season, I think they could turn it around without all of the drama.
I am attempting to think of something nice to say about the Cincinnati Bengals, but outside of hoping A.J. Green comes back fully healthy and seeing Joe Mixon continue his ascension, I don’t have much.
For the Bears, though, let’s look at some of the potential free agents Ryan Pace and Matt Nagy could look at from within this division in the coming months.
