Chicago Bulls: Bobby Portis takes shot at front office on Instagram
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bulls dealt forward Bobby Portis this past week, and after the first game with his new team, he had some choice words.
Once again, fans of the Chicago Bulls are left wondering just what in the world their team’s front office is doing. Gar Forman and John Paxson have often disappointed and infuriated the fan base, but this time, they caused some hurt from within a now-former player.
Last week, the Bulls made a big move as they traded the team’s sixth man and fan favorite, forward Bobby Portis. In exchange for swingman Otto Porter, the Bulls sent both Portis along with forward Jabari Parker to the Washington Wizards.
Believe it or not, in their first game for the Wizards, both Parker and Portis shined. Never you mind it was against the Cleveland Cavaliers — these guys played a pivotal role right off the bat.
Parker came up with seven points, 11 rebounds, nine assists, three steals and a block. Meanwhile, Portis had a game-high 30 points to go with six rebounds. It was clear Washington wanted to send a message with playing their two new guys significant minutes.
After the game, Portis took to social media to not only celebrate his first win with Washington, but take a jab at Forman and Paxson.
"“New team, same dream! BIG TIME home win tonight as well! Happy to be in a place where I’m wanted! #UNDERDOG”"
Now, if that isn’t a shot at his former team’s front office, I don’t know what is. He made it clear in his first interview following the trade that he was stunned by the news. He was dedicated to the city of Chicago, not just the Bulls as a team. He wanted to be a Bull for life, he told the media.
I’m not quite sure what the front office is doing with this one. I’m hoping, as a fan, that Porter is the answer long-term at the wing spot alongside Zach LaVine. Only time will tell, of course. But, a two-year $55 million deal for Porter is essentially what the Bulls traded for. Will he prove worth the money?
