Chicago Bears: Controversial, intriguing free agent wide receivers
By Ryan Heckman
Randall Cobb
Controversial? Not really. Intriguing? Absolutely.
Do the words “Rodgers to Cobb” ring a bell? If not, you need to think back a few years in search for the last real heartache you felt as a Bears fan, prior to this year’s early playoff exit.
Randall Cobb has made a living completely ripping the hearts out of Bears fans’ chests. Think back to last year’s season opener, if you need a fresh reminder.

I apologize. Let’s move on.
Cobb has struggled to stay healthy over the last couple of seasons, but if he can stay on the field, he would be an interesting add. He plays mostly the slot, so he would share time at that spot with Anthony Miller.
Cobb has enough speed still to contribute to an offense like Nagy’s. Over his eight-year career, Cobb has amassed 470 receptions for 5,524 yards and 41 touchdowns. His big year was back in 2014 where he caught 91 passes for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns.
The interesting aspect of his game is on the ground. Cobb has 59 career rush attempts, which is something Nagy likes to do a lot with several of his offensive weapons. In a system like the Bears’, I think he would fit in nicely. The only issue would be fans attempting to get over their distaste for the guy.
