Chicago Bears: 5 under-the-radar free agent wide receivers
By Ryan Heckman
Chris Conley
This is one guy I would be excited about if he joined the Bears. First of all, Chris Conley has some connections to the organization. Of course, coming off his first four seasons in the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs, he has a relationship with Nagy. If he has a solid reputation in Nagy’s eyes, that’s a plus.
Second, he’s a Georgia Bulldog, like two of the Bears’ most recent draft picks in both Javon Wims and Roquan Smith. That connection can’t hurt.
Conley has been a dependable third or fourth option in Kansas City over his four-year career, and his big body would be a welcomed sight in Chicago. At 6-foot-3, Conley would give Mitchell Trubisky a bigger target that the offense doesn’t necessarily have within its current receiving corps.
Actually, Wims is one of the bigger guys in the group and he hardly received any playing time as a rookie. This group is more known for its speed. So, having a target like Conley would be advantageous for the group — it would add another dimension to the receiving core.
In his four-year career, Conley has caught 104 balls for 1,238 yards and six touchdowns. Five of those six touchdowns came just last season.
