Chicago Bulls: Three trade packages for Bobby Portis
The NBA trade deadline is just days away, and trade talks are heating up for several Chicago Bulls players. Arguably the hottest name of those players is Bobby Portis.
Let trade deadline number two of selling begin!
Oh wait, it’s been going on practically all season.
Let me change that: Trade deadline number two of (hopefully) selling, that involves more than just cash coming back to the Bulls. That sounds better.
Alright alright, you get the point. Anyways, the NBA trade deadline will come and go at 4 pm central time on Thursday.
That leaves a little over a day to make moves. Plenty of time for the Bulls to continue the rebuild process.
That process over the next day or so will likely include trading veterans, including Robin Lopez and Jabari Parker.
Additionally, a couple of younger players could be on the move, and while talks have been quiet with the exception of one player, the Bulls could always decide to flip the script, and move some of their young players.
The sole young player that has recurred most frequently in trade discussions is Bobby Portis. Portis will be a restricted free agent after this season, and given the Bulls financial commitments (both current and future), Portis could, and probably should be on the move.
In addition to Portis’ impending free agent status, the Bulls could be well positioned to draft a future superstar at the forward position. They already have a budding star at forward, and if they add another one, Portis simply won’t have a role.
A young, explosive impact-maker at the forward position, the market for Portis will certainly be a hot one. The Bulls will likely have several teams calling them about Portis, and should have their pick at a premier package.
Let’s dive into three of those potential packages for Portis.
