2. Robbie Gould
Perhaps the worst kept secret in all of Chicago (and maybe even all of sports) is that Robbie Gould is just itching to come back to the Bears. In fact, he has repeatedly referred to Chicago as his “home.” But the former Bears kicker has dropped even more blunt hints via social media.
So we know Robbie has an interest in returning but is the interest mutual? It certainly is for the fans of the Bears. After the excruciating end to the season, the fans were ready to run Cody Parkey out of town. And for good reason. The well-compensated kicker was atrocious this season. And he did nothing to endear himself to the city after the loss when he threw himself a pity-party on the Today Show.
If Gould, who is one of the all-time great kickers, and has demonstrated his chops in the rough conditions of Soldier Field, the Bears must make every move within reason to bring him back.
The team is in its Super Bowl window, and those windows can close as quickly as they open. Therefore, it’s critical that the Bears go “all-in” now and address perhaps their biggest weakness heading into next season. We’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.
