Chicago White Sox: Exclusive interview with prospect Blake Battenfield
Excitement over the White Sox organization
Q: What excites you the most about potentially playing in Chicago for the White Sox?
A: For one it’s the big leagues. It’s one of those things growing up, it’s where you want to be. Chicago is a great city, I’ve never been to a White Sox game, but my family likes to drive a lot, and we’ve driven to the city of Chicago and from what I understand the fan base is just great, and who wouldn’t love the opportunity to play for that kind of team.
I remember when they won the World Series back in 2005, some guys I remember like Joe Crede, Jermaine Dye, Mark Buehrle–those names it’s like “how can I live up to that?”. If I can restore this organization back to what it can be, that would be awesome.
I know I can be a part of that, the talent in the system is amazing, and we’re not that far off. From a pitching standpoint, I’ve never played with Kopech, Cease, Dunning, or Jordan Stephens; the list just keeps going on and it’s just constant talent up-and-down affiliated ball and it should be interesting to see where they all land, and where everybody fits into the picture.
BIG thanks to Blake for his time! We wish him the best of luck this upcoming season, and hope to see him pitching on the South Side soon.
