In the first ever edition of the Chicago Bears mailbag on Da Windy City, Bears writer Usayd Koshul answers questions about the NFL Draft, free agency, and new defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano.

The Chicago Bears are about to enter another interesting offseason. For the first time since 2010, the Bears were able to make the playoffs. And for the first time since 2012, the Bears finished with a winning record.

Last offseason, the main goal for the Bears was doing everything they could to surround Mitchell Trubisky with talent. With Ryan Pace spending big in free agency, the Bears did just that.

However, the 2019 offseason will be different. As soon as the Bears season ended on Wild Card weekend, the team already saw massive roster changes.

Vic Fangio, defensive coordinator from 2015-2018 departed and became head coach of the Denver Broncos. Then, just a few days later, the Bears would lose longtime Vic Fangio assistant Ed Donatell who would become the new defensive coordinator of the Broncos.

So far, it’s been another year of offseason change for the Bears, whether on the roster or coaching staff.

Aside from just changes on the coaching, multiple core players of the Bears are slated to hit free agency. Additionally, the Bears may dip into the free agency pool to sign one or two players to add to the roster.

With the NFL offseason just beginning, we asked fans via the main Da Windy City account on Twitter to provide their questions about the Bears this offseason. During the first week of each month, I, Usayd Koshul, will select some of the best questions to answer in our monthly Bears mailbag segment and answer them.

Also, a special thanks to those who submitted their questions for February. Without your help, this wouldn’t have been possible.

Enough of the chit-chat, let’s get to answering fan questions.
