Chicago Bears must re-sign these three free agents
Free Agent no. 1: Free safety Adrian Amos
Free safety Adrian Amos is by far the most important Bears player heading into free agency this offseason. He’s the only true defensive starter from last season that has an expiring contract.
The Bears have the ability to bring back all 11 starters from the NFL’s best defense last season, and they’d be foolish not to. Amos was a key piece of the secondary last year, along with fellow safety Eddie Jackson.
Amos had his best game this year during week nine last season when the Bears went to Buffalo to face the Bills. Amos logged seven tackles, three pass deflections and an interception in a Bears blowout win.
The front office will almost certainly have to break out a big check for Amos, but it’s worth it in my opinion. Amos has been steadily improving since he entered the league in 2015, and he had a solid year last season. Hopefully, he’ll continue to improve after he’s been paid.

Amos is the type of guy who makes some key plays that go unnoticed, while his counterpart Jackson is the guy who gets the attention for his pick-six ability.
Both guys bring something vital to the table, but Amos is talked about a lot less. That is somewhat valid in that Jackson is seen as a better defender than Amos, but I still think Amos deserves more praise.
In my opinion, the top priority of this offseason should be signing Amos to an extension. That should come before figuring out the kicking situation, and before exploring potential free agent acquisitions.
It may sound aggressive, but I believe Amos is that important to this team.
