The Chicago Bears head into the offseason looking to build upon the immense improvement they made in the 2018 season. Signing free agents will help, but there are some players the Bears need to re-sign.

It was a bitter finish to the 2018-2019 NFL season for the Chicago Bears, as they saw their season end on a missed field goal by disgraced kicker Cody Parkey in the NFC Wild Card game.

Now, it’s time for the front office to focus on doing whatever they can do to improve this team and put them in position to make a deep run in the playoffs next season.

There are some potential free agents out there that could improve the roster, but I want to focus on three players the Bears can’t afford to lose to free agency. While only one of these guys is a starter, it’s still important for the Bears to have as much depth as possible.

Unfortunately for the Bears, Parkey isn’t a free agent for two more seasons. The team will have to either take the cap hit and cut him or bring in competition (as they recently did) to solve their most glaring issue.

Before I begin the short list of Bears that need to be re-signed, I’d like to acknowledge one of the guys who was barely left off this list: Outside linebacker Aaron Lynch. He’s a free agent that the Bears may make an effort to retain, but I don’t think he’s a top-three priority.

Lynch was a big part of the Bears defense when they were transitioning from being a top-10 defense to one of the elite groups. He gets overshadowed now because of the play of guys like Akiem Hicks, but he once was a key part of this defense.

I hope Lynch finds a good gig elsewhere in the NFL, but here are the three players I think the Bears should re-sign for the 2019-2020 season.
